Teleperformance, the world’s largest call-center operator, is deploying an AI system designed to soften the accents of Indian workers in real-time, aiming to enhance customer understanding and satisfaction. The technology, known as accent translation, is being implemented in call centers across India, where employees provide customer support for international clients. This system, developed by Palo Alto-based startup Sanas, also includes background noise cancellation to improve call clarity. Teleperformance, which serves global companies like Apple, TikTok, and Samsung, believes this innovation will create a more intimate customer experience, increase satisfaction, and reduce handling times. The company is investing up to €100 million in AI partnerships this year, with Sanas’ technology being a key component. Despite concerns about the impact of AI on human jobs, Teleperformance emphasizes its commitment to enhancing, rather than replacing, human employees. The firm also highlights the importance of the human element in customer experience and branding, even as AI becomes more prevalent.
