Apple has unveiled its most powerful Mac to date: the Mac Studio, now equipped with the M4 Max and M3 Ultra processors. These enhanced models offer significant improvements in performance, making them ideal for professionals such as 3D artists, AI developers, and musicians.

The Mac Studio with the M4 Max starts at $1,999, while the M3 Ultra version begins at $3,999. Despite the higher price, the M3 Ultra is the more powerful chip, combining two M3 Max chips into a single package with 184 billion transistors. It features a 32-core CPU, up to an 80-core GPU, and a 32-core Neural Engine for AI applications. The M3 Ultra comes with 96GB of memory, upgradeable to 512GB, and supports up to 16TB of storage.

In comparison, the M4 Max chip offers a 16-core CPU, 40-core GPU, and 36GB of memory, upgradeable to 128GB. The Mac Studio with the M4 Max is 3.5 times faster than its predecessor with the M1 Max. Both models support Thunderbolt 5 for faster data transfer speeds and include Apple Intelligence for generative AI capabilities.

Although the Mac Studio is designed for professional use and is unlikely to achieve the sales volume of Appleā€™s MacBooks, it is expected to contribute positively to the Mac segment, which saw strong year-over-year growth in 2024.
