Fintech entrepreneur Charlie Javice, convicted of defrauding JPMorgan Chase, faces a unique challenge prior to her sentencing: wearing an ankle monitor. Federal prosecutors requested she be electronically monitored, citing her dual French-US citizenship and the lack of an extradition agreement between France and the US. However, Javice’s attorney argued against this, stating that the monitor would impede her ability to work as a pilates instructor, a profession she relies on for income. The judge expressed skepticism about the claim but will rule on the matter at the next court date. This situation contrasts with other convicted scammers who have managed to wear ankle monitors without significant hindrance to their activities.
