Intel Corp. announced that three members of its board of directors are retiring as the company seeks to enhance its expertise for a turnaround. Omar Ishrak, Tsu-Jae King Liu, and Risa Lavizzo-Mourey will not stand for reelection at the May 6 annual shareholder meeting. The board will reduce to 11 members following the recent appointments of chip industry executives Eric Meurice and Steve Sanghi as independent directors. The company emphasized its commitment to having the right mix of skills, qualifications, and technical expertise on the board. These changes follow the appointment of Lip-Bu Tan as CEO, replacing Pat Gelsinger, who was ousted due to the slow progress of the company’s comeback efforts. The announcement was made in Intel’s annual proxy statement filed on Thursday.
